Purchasing Qualification Exam

Purchasing Qualification Exam

This exam covers policies and processes used for any on-campus and off-campus purchases you will need for your project. Passing the exam demonstrates that you have sufficient understanding of the purchasing policies to work with the Capstone purchasing system.

We require all students who purchase items for their Capstone project to take the Purchasing Qualification exam on Learning suite and score at least 90%.

To learn the purchasing policies, study the information in Purchasing and Travel. You may refer to the website during the exam. This is open-book.

  • To take the exam, go to the Capstone Learning Suite page and click on the Exams tab. You should then see and be able to take the Purchasing Qualification Exam.
  • Once you have scored at least 90% on the exam, your score will be manually downloaded by the Capstone office and then imported for you to be listed as a qualified purchaser. Please email
    byucapstone@byu.edu

if you have questions or issues related to purchasing.
  • In September, the Capstone office will import qualified purchaser status to the Capstone website each business day. If you take the exam after September, send an email that same day to the office (byucapstone@byu.edu) notifying them an import needs to be made.

We want all members of each team to pass the exam and become qualified purchasers as soon as possible so that your team is fully set up to purchase before the concept development phase.
