Safety Plans
Safety Plans
If your team has any testing to do with your project that could have risk to people or property, you will likely need to create a safety plan and have it approved. The safety plan needs to address the following items:
- Purpose of the activity
- Scope of the activity, travel or testing
- Potential Hazards
- Safety measures to remediate the hazard(s)
Putting together a plan takes time and you’ll need to have it in place and approved before testing can be performed or travel made. Plan a month or more ahead. Sources that may be used to help put the safety plan together are:
- Your coach
- Dave Laws, dlaws@byu.edu, (801) 422-2628
- BYU Risk Management
You can find a safety plan template at https://risk.byu.edu/creating-safety-plans. Additional samples can be found in Class Documents/templates on box.byu.edu. Continue working with the Capstone office until approval is given for the Safety Plan.
